Clinical Counseling

During the development of clinical counseling, I became self-aware of my worldviews, attitudes and behaviors. I discovered my clinical theoretical framework, interventions, and techniques. My main theoretical framework is Solution Focused (Miracle question and fast intervention) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (maladaptive thought patterns) for individual counseling. I use Emotionally Focused (attachment) and Gottman (Four Horsemen Nine Components of Healthy Relationship). I also learned that competencies are not necessarily a grade but are an ongoing developmental process to ensure compliance with the thical standars of American Counseling Association (ACA, 2014) A.  Personally, I learned that determination is often the driven force to completing each task. Professionally, I learn that one never stops learning and it is critical to be informed with new conferences, journals, and articles to enhance clinical practice.

One of my challenges was integrating the arts of counseling with the empirical research framework. I also discovered how to be holistic infusing a therapeutic process towards the mind, body, and spirit despite your religious practice. I will continue to emerge myself in the nuances to further develop and be an asset to the counseling community. I will continue to develop my identity, roles and responsibilities as a clinical counselor and counselor educator by practicing a theoretical framework, assesment, case conceptualization, treatment plan, intervention while maintaining a multicultural awareness and sensitivity toward divers culture.
